Ten years in the making, and 10 years ahead of its time, the APL Concept X truly revolutionizes the game of basketball. Taking everything we’ve learned over the past decade from research, design and development, we have brought something new and never before seen to further your journey in jump. Using state of the art construction techniques, newly develop compounds, and space-aged materials we have once again shown what is possible in performance footwear.

The Concept X introduces a new version of the spring-based technology that first propelled athletes higher and was banned by the NBA; Load ‘N Launch® Carbon 10. For the first time ever, APL has used a full-length carbon fiber plate that acts as a springboard to efficiently transfer energy with every step. Beneath the carbon plate sits a larger device with 10, larger coil springs strategically positioned throughout the forefoot. Each piece is tuned to work in conjunction with one another to provide ultimate energy return and enhanced elevation. A newly developed APL FutureFoam™ midsole that is lighter and provides more rebound encases the device to offer a soft and responsive cushioning to help you land softly. The outsole features a high traction clear rubber compound that puts the entire Load ‘N Launch® Carbon 10 device on display. To further reduce weight, the heel area of the outsole is carved out exposing the carbon fiber plate.

The Upper of the Concept X also debuts a number of new technologies. A full-length stretch TechLoom bootie is supported by APL Exolock overlays. APL Exolock technology uses various embroidery techniques, thread materials, and cord to create components that offer enhanced support, while maintaining low weight. APL Exolock can be tuned in limitless ways to provide the right amount of support, lockdown, and breathability exactly where you need it. Manufacturing waste is kept to a minimum with the majority of the upper being knit and embroidery thread-based construction. 10mm drop. Weight 17.28 oz.

  2. APL FutureFoam midsole is lightweight and responsive, providing great cushioning and energy return.
  3. Clear Rubber outsole and carved midsole fully display the internal technology.
  4. High top TechLoom bootie provides a sock-like fit and quick ingress and egress.
  5. New APL Exolock construction uses a series of embroidery techniques to add custom tuned support specifically where it’s needed.
  6. 100% thread-based upper minimizes waste during production.
  7. Dual–compound sockliner is specifically designed to work in conjunction with the Load ‘N Launch Carbon 10 technology.

      "I love the look of these shoes, but these are for slim feet only. I have a high arch and medium wide feet, but the compression on these goes is too much to where If I am not on my feet, I find them extremely uncomfortable and restrictive. My toes feel crammed on top of each other unable to spread out for stability. However the does are very comfortable and cushiony. The unfortunate thing is that the return policy is pretty poor. Once you’ve worn them to try them out, no returns. Overall a great looking shoe and god for slim feet, but uncomfortable for the average person"
